XF 2.2 Restrict the length of expanded widget thread content

Hello,

I am trying to create a homepage with the last 3 threads created in a node. If in the widget I indicate expanded view and the threads are very long, seeing the whole thread breaks the harmony of the site.

My question is if i can put something code to do the following option:

When the thread exceeds 300 characters, a "continue reading" appears or directly cut the thread. I have seen that in an articles node this option appears, but I am talking about a widget with the latest threads in expanded mode.

Spoiler mode automatic will be another opción, It is possible?

I haven't been able to apply the snippet function to the xf:widget tag, e.g. <xf:widget key="new_threads" snippet="{{ snippet($post.message, 200) }}"/>

I tried working on it a while ago when I wanted to do the very same thing with a custom home/landing page.

Hi @Brogan , i have voted for your sugestión.

this implementation would make xenforo a blog in an incredible way, without using third party works to create a landing page with the latest news. I will keep an eye on the updates with great interest in this regard. good luck and thanks!
