XF 1.0 Removing Mass Spam Help :)

So I just found an old forum that I wanted to bring back. My goal was remove the spam, upgrade, and release.. But I am running into issues...

I am able to use the spam tool on users with 1-1500 or so posts.. But anything over 2k I get "The server did not respond in time. Please try again." I have a few users who have 30k or so posts.. Is there any method I could use to delete their posts then ban them? Maybe a sql command that would hurt the database..

If you were prepared to upgrade to a newer version first, you could use the batch update threads tool in the ACP to delete all threads belonging to a particular user (or using the other available criteria).

Thanks Brogan but Id have to run the upgrade after I clean this spam, since the DB has now reached GB size. Id rather try to delete the messages and slim down this insane DB site before attempting an upgrade which will most likely time out.
