Removing gender from profile page?

I've seen threads on how to remove gender from the registration form:

but how does one remove gender from the profile page? I removed it from the register_form, but it's still appearing in the profile. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Run this query to remove the gender from all users.

UPDATE xf_user
SET gender = '';

I assume this gets rid of gender for existing users; I'd like to eliminate the option from the profile page entirely. How do I do this?
