How can I remove the @ sign from existing tags - I've unticked the box in the User Alert Options and new tags don't have the @, but all the existing tags still have them.

There isn't a method in the software that handles this, it would require direct manipulation in the database or an add-on to remove them on the fly. @Kier's post find and replace could accomplish this (with proper RegEx and back ups).
  3. For anyone in the future looking.

    RegEx I used:
    Regular Expression: /(\[USER=[0-9]+\])@/
    Replacement String: \1
maszd, emmy, markku and 1 other person like this.

Thanks for this, however, do you happen to know what I should do if I wanted to add @ instead of removing it?

So that becomes to @ ?

    Thanks a lot!!
  5. To add an @ just change to:

    Regular expression: /(\[USER=[0-9]+\])/
    Replacement String: \1@
