In XF2 you can activate the canonical option in the ACP.

.htaccess is not working
Inside my .htaccess i have
But when i have a direct thread url e.g.
It does not redirect to the www-version. What am i missing there in the .htaccess?

The forum URL is already set to "https://www.mydomain.com" on ACP. Do i need to tick the checkmark below?
For clarification, it does redirect https://mydomain.com to https://www.mydomain.com. But not when i paste an entire thread URL in my browser.
Don't forget that some browsers now drop the www prefix from the domain when they display the URL - even when using the www version.
For example, Chrome shows an abbreviated URL without the protocol or www prefix:

In your case it will always make sure 'www' is in the URL.

i set the url of my forum with the "www" part, but when i accessed it without it, some style-resources are not loaded correctly. Also when i was logged in at https://www.example.com, i had to re-login at https://example.com ... very weird, but now it works perfectly.
