XF 1.5 Receive e-mail when new conversation message, etc.....

What the difference is between having the "Contact Preferences" box checked or un-checked where it says "receive e-mail when a new conversation message is received"?

I have mine checked as an Administrator, and get e-mails only when a member specifically sends me a message.
A member has his un-checked and gets the same results.

If the preference is unchecked, an email should not be sent.

See if you can reproduce the issue with your own account.

Is checking or un-checking the preference handled the same way by XF for Admin and regular member accounts?

Yes, all accounts are the same when it comes to those preferences and settings.
