It's only logical that reaction score should not be counted when "Count messages posted in this forum toward user total" is turned off. Otherwise you get weird stats like 1 post and 1000 reaction score.
The same thing happens with the post counter and hidden nodes. You can have a visible node with 5 post and the statistics counter says 2005 because there are 2000 other posts in a hidden node that guest don't see.
