Do you discourage those who post straight makeout session pics in the chat box?
I've never seen that in there. They posted that stuff cause they were complaining about something else and trying to get on my nerves.

and it doesn't matter if it was posted on there. I treat my site like a personal blog that just so happens to have a forum attached to it.

People are allowed to do their own thing until they either break the rules and/or get on my last nerve.

On some, friends at your crib chilling type vibe.

Socially Uncensored is behind 3 firewalls, 2 proxies, 1 CDN network, 2 server location (1 for files & one for database) and several customized security settings.... Just to avoid attacks and foolishness.

And f**k me, what happens?! Someone else on shared file server (not the database server) gets DDOS attacked and takes us down for a short bit.

I feel like Charlie Brown.... I just can't win sometimes.

Sounds like overkill to me. Whatever works for you though.

I guess it depends on the site.

We allow complete freedom of speech. And sometimes that free speech has made us the subject of some very heavy attacks.

For example, our religion forum (Holy Land) can have some really heated topics. Generally speaking when it becomes topics regarding Islam, those who would call themselves, Muslims, often demand we terminate any content they dislike. And of course being uncensored we refuse and this can lead to some heavy attacks.

Another example, was we had an extremist who really didn't like the pro-abortion topic that was taking place. He called it both hate speech and "the encouragement to murder children". While most people on the site called it the right to choose and free will. Dude spent 9 days trying to shut us down via his own little random attacks.

So I guess it depends on the site.

Were you specifically targeted indirectly by way of a lower protect site on the same server?

I signed onto your site and saw some extreme racism towards blacks and extreme Islam bashing.

you basically get what you deserve when you allow that stuff to go on in a public discussion. if you made that stuff private, it wouldn't be so bad.

i can't say i feel sorry for you because of that. i don't have a 'free speech' kind of rule on my site cause it's my site. i pay the bills and i'm the one that would have to fix the site if it gets attacked. you should think about it like that, do you really wanna be up all night trying to fix your site because you let your community get out of control like a bunch of bad children?

Today, the attack wasn't aimed at me. It was aimed at someone else and our files just happen to be on the same server. One of the draw backs of having things on a shared host.

The protection we use it for us, but I guess in away its also for everyone else who we neighbor with.

Ah okay. thought I'd ask since my host handles all that server side stuff.

There are is one person in particular who says some very racist things. And neither I, my staff, or the majority of the community likes the things this individual says, in fact we very much dislike his point of view.

But the thing about being uncensored is everyone has a voice. The plus side to that I guess is you get to tell that individual exactly what you think of their point of view & what you think they can do with it.

I disagree...

People are responsive for their own actions. That's like trying to argue a woman gets what she deserves if she's wearing a short mini skirt.

She's freely allowed to do so publicly and display herself to that extent as a form of self interest, desire, and one could argue self expression... Without any negative action happening.

We're accountable for our own actions. And deserving often has nothing to do with it.

I think I would feel more bad if we were not uncensored.

It's becoming taboo and politically incorrect and socially unethical to simply speak your mind without reserve. On my site that's not only allowed, it welcomed. Yes, some people have better things to say than others, but that's life. And why deny life?!

Yet you are able to pick and choose on what stays at your site as far as "speaking your mind without reserve". By that logic, there should NEVER be moderation there. They are, after all, speaking without reserve (regardless of what is posted). And why would you deny life by moderating them?

While I'm sure you wanted an argument....

Except you'd be right...... You would be surprise to learn that staff on my site has virtually no authority and to that extent; I, myself, exercise no authority.

The last time any authority was exercised was to remove spam.

That's an interesting debate I had a while ago, actually. Is a spammer exercising a right of free speech? Is deleting spam a form of censorship?

Paypal doesn't allow you to "voice verify" orders on their behalf or on behalf of the person ordering. If it had been marked "fraud" (which it wasn't) it would not have gone through and you wouldn't be part of the verification process.

Sorry I worded that wrong, your Paypal payment was marked as fraud by Max Mind. But atleast thank you for now admitting you can indeed make payments to things using Paypal ;) Yet another lie...

random thoughts....

If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?

If parents say, "Never take candy from strangers" then why do we celebrate Halloween?

Bickering has been removed and the offenders have been warned. We've told you to take it elsewhere before. Posting PM screenshots is not acceptable. If you don't like it, I suggest you move on.
