Random/Recent Media and including images in posts

Can the random/recent media block be set up to select from specific albums, or can only categories be selected in that manner?

With two categories set as the random media target, the block appears to select from one or the other (and possibly a linear series from within that) but not from both within the series of displayed images. Is this the intended behavior?

When inserting using the media gallery bbcode, is there an option to lightbox the images like attachments, rather than go to the gallery pages?

Only categories, for that at the moment.

Yeah this is designed mostly for performance. Rather than using MySQL's RAND function (which has awful performance), we select a random offset and get X number of media items from there.

There's no option for this at the moment.

Interesting observation that my media block (Random, bottom) shows media from a single album when logged in but random images from multiple albums when viewing as a guest.
