XF 2.2 question on a few addons prior to going to 2.3!

so I only have 3 add ons for the site (though a good bit of custom modifications...but thats a different topic) and im curious if 2 of them are even needed anymore since they were both purchased for our original upgrade from vbulletin many years ago and id like to know if the latest versions of xenforo have incorporated these add ons in the basic functionality?

1. vbulletin redirects. i see this is still available for 2.1 (we are 2.2) but we are still on the original version of the add on and its worked flawlessly thru our xen 1 use, and even the upgrade to xen 2.0 and now to where we are now at 2.2.

is this add on still needed at all? can i disable it and leave it disabled after upgrading to 2.3? (upgrade notes indicate to disable all add ons prior to upgrading)...or does it need upgrading to the latest version of the add on after the 2.3 upgrae?

2. th ignore more. we bought this way back in xen 1.x and upgraded it for 2.x...but I thought I read that the current versions of xenforo have now added the ignore feature as a native option? is that the case? or is it not as good/functional as th ignore more addons?

would be great to not have to worry about these two add ons with the upgrade!

There were some issues with some installed addons going from 2.2 to 2.3, make sure you disable them before the upgrade. There were a lot of threads created here after 2.3 came out and people having issues with the upgrade. Most of the issues were because of installed addons.

yessir, thats what i was reading hence my question wondering if I should even bother with these two addons at all?

A bit unclear, which add on exactly you are talking about. There is one that seems free and is labeled as 2.3 compatible:

There are however quite a couple that you could have meant - so clarification would make things easier.

This seems to be no longer listed on here - the link to the add on is dead. As it is unclear what it does it is also unclear what additional functionality it brings. The "more" in the name suggests that it does offer more than stock XF and the fact that it was offered for 2.2 that it does more than 2.2 offers. As far as I now the ignore functionality in XF has not changed in 2.3, so whatever the benefits of that add on would have been in 2.2 will probably still to be provided by an add on in 2.3.

Best way would be to set up a test instance anyway before playing with the real thing. If you use a clone of your forum for testing the upgrade it should be easy to find out what works and what doesn't.

Thank you for the reply Smalls!

TH(themehouse) Ignoremore is (was anyway) a purchased add on to provide the ability to ignore users/posts/subforums/etc as at the time (xen 1.x) this functionality did not exist in xenforo. we've had it installed from the very beginning when it was one of the biggest complaints from our vbulletin users that the ignore features went away when we migrated to xenforo.

im simply going to disable it and see who cries to determine if its worth keeping or not!

the one im most concerned about is the vbulletin redirects add on which we used specifically to ensure all the old links/paths/etc from the vbulletin migration to xenforo remained in place and it worked great. it is the one you mention above but ive never touched or upgraded it since we migrated our original vbulletin site to xenforo 1.x back in 2019 or so.... I simply dont recall if (its been years) something that was simply needed at the start of the migration and has long since become obsolete, or if I disable it....itll just break things lol.

the ability to ignore users/posts/subforums/
in stock XF you can ignore users, but not i.e. posts or threads. Improving and extending the ignore function is one of the things that has often been demanded and since ages those demands kept being ignored:

This add on could do the trick:

I don't think that that will cause any issues, but just in case make a thorough backup of your database before disabling / uninstalling it.

leave it. it works fine with 2.3.

any old urls out there to showthread.php?t=123 will 404 without it. that's traffic you want to land from other sites.
