Question about user groups

*firstly my name should be on the registered page so you CAN help me ;-)

we have several user groups set up our admins moderators members and unregistered/unconfirmed groups

we have a public discussion forum that we would like unregistered members to be able to see. i.e without signing up for a forum account.

when going to user groups under admin unregistered/unconfirmed is in a bold blue meaning there have been changes to that account type if i read correctly but under node /public chat view node, view topics/conversations is all checked allowed all the other stuff is inherent.

when a guest comes to the site they get an error message stating they have to sign in to see the forums.

can anyone help this noob?

That sounds like this permission:

Admin CP -> Users -> List User Groups -> Unregistered / Unconfirmed -> View

Make sure this is Allow. Otherwise guests won't be able to view any pages on the forum.
