Q. Handling by secured linked images

In my forum live I see this more as once. I try to describe.

When a user link a picture from a space under htaccess in a thread, all users get the htaccess login windows. In that case must the admin / mod delete the link of the pic. You know a way that xF can handle that so that links under htaccess not allowed?

Doing this would require the forum server to go and query the remote file to see if a 403 header is returned. I can imagine many administrators not wanting to see their servers perform this duty, so I would see this more as a job for an add-on than core functionality.
