Hi,

Q1: I am going to be buying XF on the first week of October 2010, but my question is how will we be able to buy when theres no store on the XF website?
Q2: Will there be payment options for Visa or Paypal?
Q3: When it says its $100 for first week then $140 after why isn't it in the UK Pound £ or are XF a USA Company?

Thanks

Welcome to XenForo.
It's paypal and CC's will work thru paypal
It's $100 for the first 24 hours and $140 after.
It's a UK company but the owners put it in US currency.

A1: My assumption on no 1 is that the XF store pages will appear when the beta download does.

A2: Paypal has been mentioned on the boards as ready to go as pay method but I don't think Visa. I'm not 100% on that but think so. Processing credit cards is expensive and complicated to set up though google checkout might be a solution later.
(Elizabeth we cross posted - yes I did see that CCs run via paypal but I don't think that's a simple option either. If you have an existing paypal account and you're "verified" (takes several days) you can tell paypal to put the payment on your card.)

A3: I saw an answer elsewhere about £ and $.
Although XF is UK based $$$ are more widely recognised online.

Note on A3: Strange really because dollars are obviously not 'proper' money of course but then this is 'virtual reality' so maybe that's why. ;)

xe.com is useful for translating XF price or others into local money.

A store will be up soon. As for pricing in british pounds, tbd?

I assume not. Having it all in one currency makes business much easier, especially for start-ups. As a Microsoft Small Business Specialist, I advise start-ups to have all products in one currency, and not to dilute into the partially-painful realms of keeping prices and everything updated. Keep It Simple Stupid.

KISS is more of an end-user methodology. Wouldn't it be simpler to list the cost in british pounds for end-users?

Even if you do not have a PayPal account, you can indeed, pay with a credit card via PayPal.
My clients have paid me via credit card many times, using PP as their payment processor, even though they had no PP account.

No.

You do not need a PayPal account in order to pay for XenForo with PayPal.

You can use your credit or debit card with PayPal in the same way as you do with any other online payment handler, without any kind of sign-up or account creation.

Certainly in the UK, accepting payments in a foreign currency as a UK business means lots of conversions and the rules (if all followed) generally lead to lots of additional calculations. I assume that the XF storefront system will take care of all that in the background, but, it's not exactly what I'd call 'simple'. Simple would be a UK company accepting £ :)

It would be more easier just to accept it as that, however, marketing £ to the main market, aka US users just isn't standard :(
Maybe simple isn't the correct term, but PayPal does part of the processing for them.

So with you accepting a credit or debit card, will you be using a store or shop same as other boards do to take orders so you know when the package needs renewing etc?

As a Microsoft Small Business Specialist...
Pardon me - but what the hell is that? Is it like being "certified" in Outlook or Windows 2000 or something?

Seriously, I work for a company that's neck deep in Microsoft everything, and I've never heard of a Microsoft Small Business Specialist. Not sure how Microsoft fits into that niche at all.

As the kids say, wtf?

Sorry, that MSBS moniker just jumped off the screen at me and knocked me right off my expensive office chair.
