Pulling forum - how to leave forwarding page

I'm pulling my forums

Firstly I have no idea how to do this. Do I just delete everything in the server?

Secondly - is there a way I can leave some kind of forwarding page that comes up if people try to log into the web address and the forum is gone?

Need to do it in the next two days. Thank you.

I don't think I'm the only one closing a forum!
You are not. Hundreds of sites, forums and even online gaming sites are likely to be taken off-line by tomorrow night while others may be geo blocked to UK IPs.

Here's one example of three hundred sites that may be lost forever, or so they say.

Urban Dead which was a popular multiplayer on-line role-playing game was taken off-line yesterday and I doubt they'll be the last gaming site to disappear.

It's too early to tell if the potential loss of so many sites is a knee jerk reaction but this act has certainly got a lot of site owners worried.

It has been stressful. I've been too busy to be too upset but it will get to me tomorrow I'm sure. Main thing is all members have found somewhere to go so we can carry on even though it won't be the same. And I've saved/archived as much as I can.

Ok one forum is done - Home page on line - no links, no sharing. Members all deleted (connected up online elsewhere), so no-one to login except me so it's essentially a read-only web page. However, there are a lot of forum links all over google which, when clicked on, just take people to the login page (they can't log in obviously or register). Maybe I need to set up a redirect? I've set all forum nodes to Private (forum is hidden) but maybe that won't work?

why delete users.
you should be able to set it for read only for all groups.
and then set it so that new users cannot register?
there is the box in the control panel to disable registration.
i would think that turns off all registrations.
