Proxy Link-Forum - Converts link forums into proxies for actual forums

Converts link forums into proxies for actual forums, allowing post information, post counts, etc from the destination forum to be visible when viewing the link-forum.

Note; only works as-expected for destinations which are a Forum (not a page or anything else). Does not have much in the way of input validation.

To a front-end user, a link forum can be made nearly indistinguishable to a normal forum.

What's a usage case for this? If this makes the a link forum mimic the appearance of an actual forum, whilst also linking to it, I'm not sure what the use is. Willing to bet I'm missing something here.

@Xon

I like it, thx!

But unfortunately, it doesn't consider the post and thread counts from the subforums.
It is possible to patch it?

Not without major performance or stability implications.

For example; you have a forum, which has a child forum, and then a child forum which is a link-proxy which point's to it's parent. You then have a 2nd child forum which links to the parent of the parent.

What is the last post from the root level that should be displayed when you have cycles like that?

I'm not sure what you mean, this just makes link forums proxy stats from the forums they point to.

Is have some link forums that point to threads instead of forums (for highlighting sponsored threads). I placed it in a seperate category that looked empty of threads on forum list. But i fixed this by removing the 'no messages' and added the sponsor names in place.

Not best way to do it, but fine for now :p

So my suggestion was to pull stats from those threads but that would be something different then forum to link forum.
