there are laws and regulations in certain countries (e.g.: Germany) which require a webmaster to have a "Privacy Policy" posted on his website.

I would suggest to include the content of the "Privacy Policy Page" we do have here at XenForo.com into the XF-software-package and put it into the "Help"-section.

It should not be a "separate" XF-Page, but an additional Tab within the "Help"-section, exactly the same as we do already have for "Terms and Rules".

This will make it easier for webmasters as they do not have to create their own "XF Page" and Links in the Footer, etc. in order to create the "Privacy Policy".
Webmasters could just easily change the default phrase for "Privacy Policy" (same as we already have at "Terms and Rules" with the phrase "terms_rules_text").

Many thanks!

This suggestion has been closed. Votes are no longer accepted.
"Terms and Rules" are currently easy to change for each webmaster, as they just need to change the text in the phrase "terms_rules_text".
In order to create a separate XF-Page for "Privacy Policy", it takes a lot more effort.

Again, it is required by law in certain countries to have a "Privacy Policy" posted.
If webmasters do not comply, they will receive letters from lawyers and get high $$$-amount punishments.

It is just a suggestion to make life easier for webmasters, so they can quickly create their own "Privacy Policy" content.

Ideally, the "Privacy Policy" should be in a new section in the Help-area:
http://xenforo.com/community/help/privacy-policy

Just create a new phrase named "privacy_policy_text" and move the stuff into the Help-area.

Thanks.

here is a quick solution .. not perfect but will do the job for the time being:

1) Create a Page Node as described in this guide by @Brogan (http://xenforo.com/community/resources/how-to-create-a-page-node.354/)
2) For the URL Portion use "privacy"
3) Make sure you UNCHECK the (Display in the node list)
4) Add your privacy statement to the "Template HTML" field.
5) Go to ACP > Options > Basic Board Information
6) Enter the URL of the new page in the "Privacy Policy URL" which should something like this (http://localhost/xenforo/index.php?pages/privacy/)
7) That's it. It should be visible in footer next to the "Terms and Rules" link.

I agree with this comment and with the suggestion to make this a lot easier than it is.

I turned my cookies tab into a Privacy Policy tab and just included the part about the cookies, then changed the cookie_usage phrase to "Privacy Policy".
