Is there a way for the user to preview the resource download before downloading it?

What sort of preview are you thinking? The extent of it would be what the author would provide in the description/images for the resource.

Was thinking of some sort of viewer? So user could view document within the browser, before downloading.

There's nothing that would provide that in the core. (The reason we force downloads is one of security; there are potentially issues with certain file types if we don't do this.)

Hi, no sorry. I think I'll just carry on with the users downloaded the resource and opening it. Not much in it, time wise for them.
