Nope, middle of the range package. And for good measure, going further than down town:

Ours just likes to go all over the place each time I test it; I don't know why. Like, the ping and upload are essentially the same, but the previous test had the download at about 36.00~ and the grade was a B.

I think we're on the lowest package.

No that is not the fastest FIOS offers, thay have a 500/100 Mbps connection which downloads a 5GB file in less than a minute and a half.
Have two of these lines at each business I have. Split among employees. Very good service for business class. I have no idea what their residential service is like though. Cheaper than Charter Business class. Would have gotten that but they weren't offering the speeds available now. When Comcast takes over in California, I won't go with them. Their business class offerings are subpar compared to fiber.

Say goodbye to your grandfathered in plan soon. You'll have 60 mbps down when the digital rollout is complete.

I may just have to get a job @ or hide in your office until work hours close so I can get my dose of speed during those off peak hours.

What's this digital roll-out you're talking about, and is it a good thing?

In theory it will speed up your connection 7.something times so unless you like waiting I would venture at yes this is a good thing...a roll out means that they are upgrading everyone for free there I would have to assume unless of course they are completely eliminating the plan you are on and requiring you to upgrade.

Where does this news come from, usually? We haven't gotten any e-mails or something of the sort indicating an improvement roll-out.

It showed up in my March billing cycle. Contact the number on your bill and ask them about it. Depending on when your contract ends, they'll send you a new modem which you'll provision yourself by doing the self-install and it'll be a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, to take advantage of the new speeds. Speeds will be about 30 on the new plan until your area rolls over to 60/5.

Won't happen. The connections are split. last I checked, each employee gets something like 6-7/1.5-2.2. Though I'd rather pay $700 for each and just get 1 Gb/1 Gb.

Does the bill just say Internet speed will improve?

We recently did get a new modem because our other one broke. I'll see if my mom and I can go in tomorrow and ask about it. Plus, I also need to ask why since we got the new modem when I'm uploading videos on YouTube, only that page will work, and I can't access other sites -- it's not constant, at least, it's on and off.

The new plan is called "spectrum" and is just one speed at the moment, the 30 rolling onto 60. It affects all Charter customers nationwide and the latest date for changeover is November, IIRC. The ultra tier is still offered but not advertised. They're merely dumping all analog channels in favor of digital. The excess bandwidth can be used for internet and of course the money saved from maintaining analog junk will go to infrastructure.

Also if your modem is doing that, either the modem has gone bad (It happens) or the line from the pole to your home needs replacing. You should have "wire maintenance" on your bill if you subscribe to their TV service too. It costs about $5.00 a month and saves you from headaches down the road. Like a $1,200 cable-rewire if you move house.

Yeah, it's really weird. The videos will continue uploading, but I can't access anything else, not even e-mail, on and off.

Could it really be either of those things if it was fine on the other modem before it broke? This modem is new, and I don't think the pole wiring could really go bad the following day (we replaced our modem the next day), could it?

Don't know. It could also not be the modem and merely your computer. Sometimes if I'm downloading from an open server, it'll cause RAM and CPU usage to go up, making it a little hard to do somethings. Have you tried other browsers or using another computer in the house when you're uploading?

I think I misread your problem. For some reason my brain thought you were talking about general connectivity.
