Popup surveys - do you use them?

I like the idea of having a popup mini-survey that appears in the bottom right hand corner of my site. You know what I mean, they look like those little chat widgets.

Does anyone here use them to better understand their visitors? If so, what service do you use or recommend?

I hate pop-ups of any kind. Unless it's a site that has information or a service I need, a pop-up is a signal to me to leave and not return.
I kind of agree but I've been forced to use the popup notice because some members don't read the regular notice.

Maybe I am using the wrong term. By popup, I mean something like this in the bottom right of your screen...

Then, if you click it, this pops up...

Or, this kind of implementation seen midway up the screen on the far right...

Those are less intrusive as long as they don't cover page content when not clicked. I've seen a few that can't be dismissed and block content so you have to scroll up and down the page to actually read it.,

I wonder what Google thinks of them in their algo. Improve user experience or reduce?
