I use eCommerce on one site to sell physical items and it does well. I look the simplicity of XR PM but don't like that it doesn't have a cart.

Thoughts on which product to go with on a site that only sells digital?

I use it on a site where I sell physical products. My new site will sell digital products. The requirements are very different for both.
I don't think you were very clear, I assumed you meant you were already DB ecommerce for physicial and I know that product does both physical & digital and was a bit confused. Go with DB eCommerce, 1 product for both physical & digital if need be.

The websites are not the same. One domain is a American football website and sells physical products. The other website is a website that sells Xenforo add-ons. If it were one website then it would be an easier decision.

A couple of things I noticed between XR PM and DB eCommerce:
  • eCommerce has a cart so multiple items can be purchased at once
  • eCommence supports assigning a XF version to each version of an add-on
  • XR Product Manager costs less
  • XR Product Manager, in my opinion has a better UI (I know I can change eCommerce)
  • Both add-ons are from good developers

I have a project that I am using DragonByte eCommerce. I find the addon overwhelming in setting up. I wish it were much more simple in setting up for a novice.

Having used eCommerce for physical products I understand your statement. The challenge is do to the amount of features available in the add-on. It took me a few hours to fully grasp the add-on. My only compliant with eCommerce and selling physical products and the lack of support for sales tax in the United States. That said, the use I am looking for now is digital only, which is why I am exploring all the options.

I believe XR Product Manager is just being maintained for updates, and does not currently have new development being done, but I could be wrong.

I have used DragonByte eCommerce, and it was very robust, however it did not fit both of the use cases I intended it for (redeemable digital products, and Printful product integration). It still has fairly frequent updates. I also use other products, and have global copyright removal so that's also a bonus to me 🤷‍♂️.
