Request for Essential Feature Enhancements

I don't know who the developer is, but this addon system is used by XON, among many others, for managing addon sales.

Please, please, please, please, please consider adding two new features that could save the world countless hours of unnecessary scrolling and a few clicks:

  1. Remove Non-Paid Addons:
    • Addons that don’t cost anything should be removable. If that's not possible, it should at least be possible to remove addons that don’t have a linked website, or addons that are saved multiple times without a linked website.

  1. Add More Sorting Options:
    • Please add two or more sorting options:
      1. New updates are available
      2. A-Z
      3. When is the next payment due? (If there’s a field available for this sorting, otherwise not.)

I don’t know if the programmer realizes how many addons are stored multiple times with various providers, but I can tell you that it’s extremely frustrating to scroll through these lists, clicking on download again and again and again and again, only to find out that yet another copy and yet another copy and yet another copy are listed.

Please put an end to this!

Perhaps you could also add a prompt like: "This addon is already in your list. Do you need it a second time?"

Please ask your customers, the addon sellers, how things look on their end—I bet there are far too many copies stored that nobody needs.

If I’m missing something and these features are already there, I apologize. Otherwise, please hear the voice of a practitioner who is dealing with this stuff 24/7, 365 days a year.

I'm sure someone knows which system is running at XON's and many other sites. And yes, it was important to point this out because it's yet another example of coders being out of touch with what actually happens in the real world.

There are so many quirks, issues, and nuances in our XenForo world that I could easily write a book about them. If all my suggested improvements were implemented, as far as possible, it would save the world several months or more of work time each year—time that hundreds of thousands of users, moderators, and admins currently spend on too many clicks and mouse movements.

But you only realize this if you're truly close to the front lines. For most people, it might not seem important whether they need 17 clicks instead of 9 each day. However, this doesn’t change the fact that, collectively, we could save an enormous number of clicks, mouse movements, page loads, and more.

In production industries, it’s different. At McDonald's, it’s different. There, every second, every meter, and every step counts. And if you moderate other people’s forums professionally, you quickly learn to appreciate every click that’s saved.

But hey, this is just one topic among many. If it doesn’t resonate with you, that’s completely okay—there’s always something else to focus on.

I'm doing my best to try and understand you, but your posts make no sense to me.

So, elaborate what you are trying to overcome.

Good idea. It seems there is a problem that needs a solution, but I'm also having difficulties understanding what the problem is.

Just looking at the first point:

Remove Non-Paid Addons:

I use Xon's website when downloading updates. It is this one: https://atelieraphelion.com/products/. I can see the list of addons which includes paid for and free.

But I don't understand what the reason would be to remove the free ones.

Nor remove addons that don't have a linked website. Do any of the addons listed at https://atelieraphelion.com/products/ have a linked website? I don't know what this means???

Nor do I understand "addons saved multiple times without a linked website."

@Robert9 some examples would be useful

If you're not sure what I'm referring to, then you might not be familiar with some of the issues I’ve encountered. But no worries—have a great day and enjoy life!

Maybe someone else knows about the add-on for selling add-ons at Xon's? Perhaps I should explain the situation directly to the coder and include some screenshots.

Do I detect a note of uncalled for snarkiness here? I actually bothered to reply at some length with some relevant questions that I thought would help you get some answers?

I think I know more than you might re: what you are referring to as it is very obvious what the add-on is if you look at the page source and see the template dbtech_ecommerce_overview

But there you go, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

But no, not at all. Anyone who knows the problem is already familiar with it. And everyone else, who might want to help but doesn’t know the issue, likely won’t be able to. Earlier, I wrote a long and detailed explanation, but then I realized that my approach was nonsense. I should have just asked about the add-on and left it at that. Then, I could have written to the coder directly in the relevant topic or via PM.

But here’s a screenshot. This is what happens when clueless users like me keep clicking on an add-on they want, adding it repeatedly to a list where it’s already included.

And with this add-on, there’s no way to clean up the mess I’ve created. That’s why there should be a) a prompt: "You already have this, do you want to add it again?" and b) an option to delete it.

And it doesn’t help if someone now writes: "Really? That never happens to me! You just need to be more careful!"

Because I will do it again and again and again because my hand with the trackball is so much faster than my brain.

You can reach out to the store owner and ask them to delete those free licenses (making extra work on their part to delete the already free resources they're providing, but that's the only way to get rid of them).

Also, there is a way to quickly see if you have a license already on that plugin so you avoid adding the same product to your account:
