    Hi there,

I am planning to move my community from PhpBB to XenForo by 1st December 2011.
I've been in contact with XenFan guys who are known to move PhpBB to vB to XF fantastically cleaning the unnecessary code as well!
The issue with their methodology is the passwords don't move and the attachments are doubtfull!

I recently heard that Mike is developing a PhpBB importer.
My question is will the importer be able to move passwords and attachments?

I don't mind paying $49 to XenFan guys but if the Mike's importer is anyhow better, I wanna wait for it.

    Awaiting response..

I'm testing the phpBB3 importer now with Mike.

    Yes to both.
All compatible BB Code is converted too.

    Won't be long.

Yep. About attachments, we have enough experience to have statistics that it seems attachments are sometimes not converted over for unknown reason. Something we can't guarantee. So we're looking forward to the XenForo Limited phpBB script. Glad to hear it will be here soon. Then we can stop using our internal script, or ImpEx and get better results. Thank you for the info Brogan. And Planetmaster I hope you are running XenForo very soon!

I don't know I've been in contact with Mikey and here's part of the conversation:
"A few things to note between PHPBB to XenForo conversions is that passwords don't transfer over"!

The official XenForo phpBB3 importer is ready for public beta testing, so you will be able to give that a go.

Of course you'll require a license as it is done from within the XenForo ACP.

mikey is on the xenfans team, so xfservices.com can use the xenfans convert site.

I'm not comfortable using it in its beta stage!
As soon it reaches a stable stage, I'll buy a license. :)

Looking forward seeing your site on XenForo, best of luck.
(xenforo is in release candidate stage, not beta).

I was referring to the phpBB3 importer in its public beta testing stage!

The XF team releases some of the most stable betas I've ever seen.

You should use the beta importer on a test site in your local pc and see how good (or bad) it is. I can assure from past experience of using XF betas that they are more stable than some "other" "Gold" softwares out there.

    This is just great,

That mean phpBB importer is coming and we now don't need that VB.

Yep, we've dropped using impex to import phpbb into xenforo, and soon it's in xenforo by default, which benefits everybody.
