Wait, I thought there was no Palestine back then... hmm actually there was no Palestine ever...
Wait, who are the "Palestinians" anyway? Are the people we call "Palestinians" Arab invaders who occupied the JEWISH holy land? Hmm...
Actually Palestine refers to the Philistines. The Roman emperor named Judah and Samaria that to spite the Jews after the exile the Jews in Jerusalem.

Historical inaccuracies are a dangerous thing indeed. Palestinians and Philistines are two entirely different people.

Philistines were a non-Semitic, Indo-European people who occupied southern Canaan in the 12th century BC.

The term Palestinian doesn't even occur until 700 years later. Palestinians were (are) Arabic-speaking, predominantly Sunni Muslims descendants of the Levantines.

In short, Israelis and Palestinians are the same people, not Palestinians and Philistines.

So much the sadder.

So, a priest, a rabbi and and imam walk into a bar............................

Israel needs to GTFO! Animals tbh, what are they going to do when the American economy collapses and they no longer get their welfare cheques military aid?

Out of Palestine land
When was there ever a Palestine? The US was founded in 1776. When was Palestine founded? Where was the capitol?

Seriously, we've already gone back 2600 years and there was never a Palestine.

They don't have any other means to fight back, it's an occupation by a vastly superior force, they're using the tools at their disposal.
Occupation by whom? Israelis and Palestinians are the same people. They've both been on the same dirt for thousands of years.

The way this story seems to be told is that prior to 1948, there was a perfectly happy muslim country called Palestine, inhabited by a 100% muslim population. Then the evil UN came in and create Israel as no country has ever been created before. All of the inhabitants were rounded up and forced out of the country. Then German Mayflowers filled with European Jews landed and populated Israel. Is that the fairy tale?

How about there never was a Palestine. There was a British territory created in 1920 called the Palestinian Mandate. Prior to that, it was the Ottoman Empire for several hundred years. In this territory, Arabs, Jews and Christians peacefully coexisted as one people.

26 years later, the territory was partitioned. Some of it went to Syria, some to Iraq. The western portion became Jordan and two years later, the eastern territory became Israel. BTW, during this time period, Britain was doing this all over the world. Just ask India, Pakistan and Burma. Did you know that between 1945 and 1965, the number of people under British rule outside the UK itself fell from 700 million to five million. It was a period of active decolonization.

So why did British grant Israel its independence? Its wasn't holocaust guilt, which is what most uninformed people in the west believe. Its because the Zionist groups organized and fought the British for their independence. And here's the kicker. Britain left and turned the territory over to the UN, which recognized Israel, but smarting from their defeat, the Brits voted against it.

Clandestinely, it was the British who assisted Mohammad Amin al-Husayni spurring the 1947/48 civil war. They also had selective blindness when it came to overlooking the involvement of foreign Arab fighters, such as the Syrians. Without this British involvement, the civil war may never have happened.

So the true villain in this isn't Israel or the US, it was British Imperialism. Their backdoor support of the '47-'48 civil war is the Mideast equivalent to the war of 1812.

Hey Fred,

Fair enough the Jews got royally screwed in WWII but they're being royally hypocritical these days. You can't see that, ignorance is bliss.

Peace.

As expected this thread is full of ignorance. This is a pretty good example of why there still isn't peace ;)

The pre-1967 borders are indefensible. You'll never get Israel to agree to that. Hamas is a terrorist organization. It doesn't need to recognize anything beyond its own dissolution.

The one question I keep asking that I have yet to get an answer to is why does all of the territory for a Palestinian state have to come from Israel? There is a legitimate claim against Syrian and Jordanian territory, but no claim is ever made. Do you know why there are so many Palestinians in Jordan? Its because they were there before Jordan became Jordan.

This is 100% true. I really hope that posting here comes to an end and those interested in really finding out the truth will read instead of taking 60 second slanted video clips as fact. There is no return to Palestine since there never was such a country. Ever. It was a region many different people lived in but never a country - and it extended far beyond Israel. Surprise of the day that starts to make sense of that fabrication: Guess where Yasser Arafat, the famed "freedom fighting" leader of the Palestinians who reiterated all of this "return to Palestine" originates? Palestine? Israel? Gaza? NO!

Yasser Arafat was born in Cairo, Egypt in the 1920s and was educated there. Later in life he made it his mission to continue the job started by El Mufti - the Nazi collaborator.

Since leaders of every Arab/Muslim Nation (over 500 times the size of Israel and oil rich) like Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad talk so much about these Palestinian "refugees", why not take them in, give them food, shelter, etc. instead of leaving them in Gaza? Because they don't want them in their back yard either - but the Palestinians wouldn't dare demand land back from countries like Jordan either. Syria - we've seen what would happen. Assad would kill the infidels without hesitation. The "united nations" are united in pushing the Jews and Christians (and anyone else) completely out of the middle east entirely, destroying Israel and create yet another Arab/Muslim ruled country. This leaves the peace-making Palestinians without an ability to provide any guarantee of safety for other people - despite their unquestionably good intentions.

This is a mess. It's horrible. How many people even know about the horrors in Darfur? This is a whole other region and culture. Don't apply your "level headed" thinking and believe you have solutions. After all, how "sensible" do you think your suggestions would be to Ahmadinejad? I don't know if we'll have solutions in our lifetime as our need is to somehow find a way to have global responsibility and genuine concern for humanity. Unfortunately, there are people who are devoid of that kind of progressive, socially beneficent thinking and compassion in positions of great power. Here is to hoping we somehow do see world peace within our lifetimes...

We are all people claiming to be technologically advanced and mature as a species yet we fight over imaginary lines. ahhhummm

I think the world needs to take a step back and see the flaws in their logic.

It is very simple to me really.

The reason we can survive as a dynamic group (with many nationalities) in the united states with so many different beliefs and values (for the most part) is because we call ANYONE who is a citizen here an American (which includes wherever your blood hails from) and leave it at that (unless you are narrow minded and racist of course but we can just forget about that because this debate here is about grown folks acting like civilized people in a world with a global consciousness ). You can claim any roots you like and just remember while you are here you are American first.

The point is as simple as this to me....if you (anyone) can't recognize every group that has a respectful disposition of ALL human's basic rights...whatever group you belong to deserves none.

The smartest phrase I ever learned was....'I learned everything I need to know in kindergarten'....and apparently cooties morphs from a boys-vs-girls thing to a religion, nationality, color or creed based epidemic upon a humans growth to full maturity.
