Those are mobile and you should be in the 60-70 range with a few modifications that'll also put desktop at 99/100.

Correction, my old theme was getting 60-70 on mobile. I changed to XF's and am now getting 41 mobile and 94 desktop.

Don't you think that it will make your forum less visible in Google? I have 50% of visitors from Google. I don't want to loose them.
I want to get 90+ for mobile & for desktop. And as I understand for mobiles is more important these days.

I honestly don't think so, but I haven't run any tests to confirm. I've always been a firm believer in content being king.

I ran some PageSpeed tests on my competitors that rank higher (more link juice and have been around years to my months) sitting in the teens to 20s on WordPress (my forum acts as a CMS as well so I can make that comparison).

Although they can easily get up to the high 90s on both mobile and desktop, they still have extremely low PS and are in the top 5, while I'm struggling for top 10 targeting the same keywords.

I don't believe that PS is the driving factor, but I do think it's one of hundreds. How weighted, I don't know.

1. If your theme is slowing down pageloads, you need a new theme.

2. Google AdSense is well know for slowing down pageloads, even in async mode, but if you need the income, there's not much you can do about that except consider reducing the number of ads per page. If you're using Google Auto Ads, don't. Revert to regular Google Responsive Ads and choose the number and placement yourself.

3. Scroll down the pagespeed results page to examine the recommendations Google gives you for speeding up your site.

4. Don't just rely on Google PageSpeed metrics. Check https://tools.pingdom.com/ and https://gtmetrix.com/ as well and follow their recommendations. Both of those show better speeds than the Google site. The new Google site at https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ is way out of whack when compared to other pagespeed services.

5. Check your addons: Try disabling one or more and see what effect that has on page loads.

6. Take a look at your hosting, especially if you get any recommendations suggesting the time to first response is slow.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that you want to help, but how much from what you wrote would help https://xenforo.com/community/ to increase their 45 out of 100? )

I use the default XenForo style, I don't use Google Auto Ads, just one Google Responsive Ad at the bottom of the page. Forum is hosted on SSD VPS.

I believe here is what should be fixed:

For Xenforo, GTMetrix shows a PageSpeed of 73% and YSlow at 78%, with a fully loaded time of 2.1 seconds: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/xenforo.com/Nh2SoqMa

Pingdom shows 79 for Xenforo forum (1.23 sec).

You will generally even get different results at Google's other PageSpeed site: https://testmysite.thinkwithgoogle.com/

I did. You are right, they show better results. But they are showing results for a desktop browser. And I'm worry about bad results for mobile devices.

That also shows better results and those are mobile results.

As I said above, Google changed the tests they use at https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ and I have trouble believing them. For one thing, those results don't correspond with user experience nor with Google Search Console. I no longer have any confidence in the results from that page.

You do that at the server level in .htaccess (what needs to be entered depends on your server and what cache control is available on it).

This is what's in my .htaccess with mod_expires...
