That's not a limit by my addon. Unfortunately that is out of my control. My addon let's you have unlimited feed either in RSS or in social media.

It kinda is a limit by your addon, as you decided to choose only to have the switft ticker for now, which means the limit is 25. So your addon doesn't let us to have more than 25, unless we pay rss2json aswell.

If your site is really big and you need to have +25 feeds from a lot of website in the same time,

It is not about my site being big, it is how the feeds are working. Let's say I want to showcase Youtube channels. So I can only list up to 25 channels/playlists, that's it, no more.

But how that can help you? I feel like the only way to do what you want is to do what I explained.

There is only 1 field that contains all rss feeds. If I implement criteria system for addon it will affect the whole ticker, not individual feed inside one option. But condiyionals can affect in each part of the content in that option.

It is okay, if each feed can be worked with conditionals, that is good enough for me.

One thing you should have bought while @au lait from XenMade was around in the community, is his multilingual add-on.

Well.. au lait created that addon because of me. I asked him nicely to create it for me and he was kind enough to do so. I miss his support so much.

Extensivly. If you only have 2 languages, that´s may be possible. But I wouldn´t encourage you to go that path, if you have more then 2, if you don´t own a software house with 20+ people working on that task for you

Yes, I do only have 2 languages. XF as it is very unfriendly towards multilingual boards, so I have to dig through everything to make sure everything works for 2 languages.

Okay, so I had a discussion with Sperber, and it seems I misunderstood the whole situation.

So your addon can use unlimited rss feeds from normal rss sources.

The Swift Ticker is only for those special cases, where there are no rss anymore and you want to fetch them, is this correct?

Because I asked multiple times and also read your description page and it looks like your addon only works in combination with swift, which is not the case, right?

When I say in my add-on it is only used in RSS and Pinterest, I'm referring to my own add-on's naming which is also in the description:

• Swift Ticker RSS
• Swift Ticker Custom
• Swift Ticker Social (which one of them is Pinterest)

The content from other sources are fetched in another way that doesn't require that Yahoo's service that is done and now is replaced with rss2json.
(again, its not a choice for me. I had no other way. the library used for ticker is using that and I'm using that library. I always like to make things as independent as possible, and I'll check always to see if the library will update. if so, then I'll also update it. but for now, its ok to go this way as its not a big deal in most cases. hopefully 1 day a good alternative comes and we'll go that way)

1. Go to my add-on's Options.
2. In "Swift Ticker: RSS" tab, go to the field called: RSS
3. As you can see in it's description, it says how to put RSS feeds and what customizations are available too.

So let's say we want to have your mentioned feed. Add something like this:

And the same result as before. It keeps pinging but no feed is shown.



There is a "pinging" animation in the middle of the widget like this.

I assume this is because I haven't put the rss2json token in the addon.

Now let's go to the next step. Let's take a look at the add-on's options:


Now that we know this, we go to the next step. We scroll down in that tab to and see that there is a field called RSS:


So far, we know that rss2json will be used to make this field work.

Now let's scroll up and switch to the second tab called: Swift Ticker: Social


As we read the description of the field called rss2json, we see that it also says it is used in Pinterest feed reader too.
What does that mean? Let's scroll down and find the Pinterest's field.


There it is! There is a field called Social Feeds that let you enter as many social sources as you want to pull the data from.

You can see in it's description that this way you can add 1 (or 1 million) Pinterest feed:

So if you ever decide to also show the content from a Pinterest page, you will also need to have that rss2json to make it work.

How about if you only want to show a youtube or facebook or twitter feed? do you still need rss2json? No. Why? because youtube is not Pinterest. Because youtube is not added in the RSS field in the first tab. Because youtube's data is getting pulled in another way that doesn't need rss2json and that something that was not possible about Pinterest.

To sum it up, the natively built-in rss feeder of Xenforo, THAT is unlimited.

The news ticker addon is not unlimited.

So if I choose to use the XF one, I can create threads using rss as much as I want from any source I want as long as it has a valid rss.

The news ticker however relies on the rss2json, which on the other hand limits you to 25, UNLESS you pay 43$ a year in addition to the addon.

No. RSS field needs rss2json to work.
But it doesn't limit you to 25 site's feeds.
You can add unlimited website's rss to that field, but if you use free rss2json, each feed will pull only latest 25 news at the moment.

I also clearly mentioned that as a REQUIREMENT for the add-on:

But if you think you can use it, keep using and I'm pretty sure you will never ever need to pay for rss2json because you will never ever need those premium features and you will never ever bypass that 25 feed per check.


(years ago I had a website called JUST SO YOU KNOW. it was only a feed reader. the whole purpose of the site was feed reader. people were coming to read their popular source's recent news. tons of categories and sources. even that site, that the only job for it was to read the feed, was only pulling 5. and stats were telling me that people usually read 1 to 3 feeds of their popular source.)

I asked from the start the same question over and over again and you acted like I am the one who doesn't understand it. But from the start I was right, the addon limits you to 25. I didn't misunderstand it, you misdirected.

No (the demo on xen-pro is showing feed from youtube and facebook and twitter and it doesn't have rss2json)

No. That is as it is called custom news. it means you manually write your own content instead of pulling from a source. it is sort of being used for advertising and ...

Yes. 2 options for it.

I have no plan to bring them unless someone invests or I see I personally need them.

No. (for now, its not possible. but one thing that I have in my mind is to make it a news ticker generator. so insead of going to options and fill the fields, a form be there to let you CREATE multiple news tickers of your choice with any setting. But that's a time consuming work and needs lots of work, which I may only do it if I get enough investment for it. again, if the answer to this question is affecting your decision, consider it as No for now)
