XF 1.5 Not getting some alerts

Someone created a resource in the resource manager addon and I downloaded the file. When they updated today with a new file I didn't get an alert telling me about the new update.

I have it set to create a forum discussion when a new resource is created and I also saw that their latest update to the file download was posted to the forum, but I still didn't get an alert.

I thought it would have had me automatically watch the resource when I download something. I've seen it like this on other xenforo forums (like spigotmc.org).

Is there a setting I need to enable somewhere?

You would need to watch the resource, or the resource thread (or both).

Make sure your alert preferences are set correctly in your profile as well.

On another website that I get resources from, anything that I download gets watched automatically. is there a setting somewhere for this?

I see in XF 2.0 (XFRM) that when you download something you automatically watch the resource, this wasn't the same in XFRM 1? Could have sworn the behavior was the same.
