As designed  New post is added to end of page, on multi-paged threads

When a user adds a post to a thread, using the quick reply box, on a thread which has multiple pages, the post itself is just added onto the end of the page of that thread.

Upon refreshing, the post appears correctly, after the last post in the thread, on the last page.

That's because a new post is added without a page refresh.

For each post numbered 21, 41, and so on, only a page refresh after submitting will show it on the correct page.

I know that, however, would it be better to change this behavior?

I can understand that, but for me it makes sense to have it appear on the page you have commented on, and then jump down to continue the thread. Your post is only going to "disappear/move" when you refresh the page or move away from it i.e. navigate to the next page - which is the most logical action

So for me the process is:
  • read a post
  • comment on post
If we change that then it turns into:
  • read a post
  • comment on post
  • navigate back to where you were last in the thread
  • continue reading

It also tells you that there are more posts between the "old" last post and any of the posts that appeared (if there are indeed any more between).
