New Install https problems

Greetings i just did a new install and figuring it all out. Used to use VB ways back just getting back into swing of things and starting up a new community . The install went flawless but there was a problem with the ssl certificate . It would engage when you clicked home then it was fine but landing showed not secured. So by searching the forums i stubble over this line to add to htaccess

RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^/?(.*) https://yourdomain$1 [R,L]

This seemed to work fine and it kicked in right away. This post was from a member here by the name of Neil and the topic was for ssl.

I was trying out another social scrip before i bought this . But the one i have was way to heavy but was easy to set up. There was an option in the admin panel to force the lock icon i presumed they meant to force Https with icon.

I would think this would be a good idea to add in the panel where there is a tool to help with this it seems some people have the same problems . Ok thanks
