New Forum Software with a few interesting features

'The Xenforo Pages' can be used for a lot of things, Brogan has done a fantastic job with his, that is one of the best features of this software that I can see so far, simple is good, if a novice can build a giant website or portal without coding that is good, that can be done with 'Xenforo Pages' by the looks of it.

I'd like the Xenforo pages, i think this is a perfect feature! (but yes, commentable pages...*salivating*) With VB it's not so easy to create pages, you need an addon and a lot of work to customize them...for many years vb users asked for a simple pages features (for creating an about/terms zone like this)...now with xenforo it's possible to do this in a few minutes.

It's nice for this forum software the one-click-install for addons...i hope to see this on Xenforo. ;-)

A lot is very easy if the provider is in full control.

XenForo is not a hosted solution. (And wfew)

There are 2 versions as i see...hosted and standalone solution. Hope to see soon the pro version of this forum software, very curious about it. More competition = More good ideas. But in every case, i will stay with xenforo. :)

Perhaps the new addon listing system that has been promised in the past (iirc) will be accessible via the admin CP, with one-click installs similar to Wordpress. Now that would be awesome :)

Totally agree. :-)

It looks hacked together to just make it work. Unlike XenForo, which seems to have been architected and engineered.

I wish Joe the best of luck, it's a fresh new player on the market, and having vBulletin 4 and IPB as part of the top 5, we sure can use more market players.

Yea, a new add-on system is definitely something we are looking forward to seeing with XenForo. Will definitely bring in more developers if it's easy to add, update, and install add-ons.

Many years ago I had a business (in an admittedly small market) with zero competition. I am a little ashamed to admit that after awhile quality went down. Heck, the customers would take whatever we made, and we made crap. Finally a competitor sprang up (a former employee actually). Wow, that was my salvation! I became invigorated, everyone's quality went up, things were exciting again! I loved it! We thrive with competition. Everyone in the whole food chain benefits.

Nobody has all the answers, but it's sure nice to see all the new ideas coming into the market. Also shows that forums are far from dead. Whoever comes up with the best mix of features will be "King of the hill".

I don't believe the current forum leader has the imagination and ability to innovate that it will take. They seem to only be playing catch-up.

My money is on XenForo!

This Launch.Forums project is died? I didn't see a huge interest in this forum (i think there are already a market saturation in the commercial forum software; there are not place for a new player, except for "niche" hosted scripts).

I would disagree, as the continued releases of forum software would indicate, particularly from the horrid Visageborg (Facebook for the non-tech amongst us), if someone can come up with a product that fits a specific market segment than assuming they can market it a new player will be born.

The Launch.Forums folk clearly thought they had a market niche, really ? - how much simpler can you make things before it becomes ludicrous, which may not have panned out to the extent they needed to continue working.

There forums haven't been all that active recently from what I can see.

I honestly don't think it'll be much more than a fly by night because they've dumbed it down so much.
