Moving hosts, any gotchas ?

Planning to move hosts shortly, will tar up the whole pb install and export the database, anything i need to watch out for ? (i know vb used to have these weird cookie issues when you moved host).

Basically you backup on the old server and restore on the new one:

Both the files and database need to be copied over to the new server. Then update the library/config.php file to point to the database on the new server.

You also need to point your domain name to the new server, but that is handled through your registrar.

(i know vb used to have these weird cookie issues when you moved host).

That is only a problem if your cookie settings are specific to your old URL. The default cookie settings in xenForo are not specific to any one URL so this won't be a problem unless you have overridden the default cookie settings in the library/config.php file.

Or have your new host transfer it all for you :):) much quicker and much easier. Thats what i did with my VB forum.
I dont know how it is now, but then, if you had a large database, you had to upload it to your site and SSH in to install it where its supposed to be.
