Ok, at the moment, my forum is in the root directory of my domain.

I hence want to move it to forum.lynefc.co.uk as my front page is now going to be a wordpress site run from there. But do I need to do anything else apart from changing my board url?

Do I need to add to htaccess folder to advise of the change, even though the files are going to be in the root of the subdomain?

The FAQ in my signature explains the steps required for a site move.

Rewrites are almost always written in the scope of URLs. I believe your first one should work, though I'm not positive on the leading / in the regex.. However, you're not going to be able to use that if you're putting something else in that directory -- you'd need to make rules that match specific URLs (or sets of URLs) that you want to redirect (such as starting with "threads/", "forums/", "members/", etc).
