XF 1.5 Move posts: Grrr

I selected some posts from one thread and selected Move..., and I picked an existing thread to move them to.

Unfortunately, the posts got moved to the top of the target thread, which makes no sense at all to me (why would anyone want to do that?).

So to try to undo what I did, I selected the (new) first posts in the target thread and selected delete. Then the whole thread was gone!

What am I missing about this "move" function? Why are moved posts sent to the top of a target thread?

The posts you moved were likely made at an earlier date and time than the posts in the thread you moved the posts to. Additionally, deleting the first post of any thread will delete the entire thread.
