XF 1.4 Move a post to the top

I want to move a post on the thread to the top. How do I do that please?

It's not possible as posts within threads are sorted on date order.

Can I make it stick at the top? Anyway to edit the date? Or a clever work around? The user is happy for me to rewrite his post

You would have to manually edit the database to change the timestamp to move the position of the post, which is not something I would recommend.

Hmm any ideas? Could I create another thread and merge it with this other one? Would the new merged thread reflect the new times of the posts?

Posts in a thread are always sorted on date order, so you could split that post to a new thread and then add new posts to the new thread, or merge it with a thread (and posts) created after it.

It would be cool if the software were designed so that admins could change the way posts are ordered. The SQL query used could be based on a database value.
