Migration from Invision 4.7.22 Cloud, not self-hosted

I've used Invision cloud hosting for over 15 years, and their shutdown of the legacy packages on October 1 means my monthly costs would more than triple. Just not viable for a relatively small community.

I understand that there is a migration tool from Invision 4.x to Xenforo, but most discussions appear to be regarding migrations from self-hosted instances of Invision, not cloud hosted. Presumably there are limitations on what I can access "under the hood" vs. a self-hosted Invision instance.

Will the migration tool work coming from a cloud-hosted instance of Invision?

Since I cannot try the migration tool with the Xenforo demo, I don't want to purchase a Xenforo license only to then discover that it only works with self-hosted Invision instances.

Thank you.

As I understand it, you can request Invision to export all of your site data, minus the application files, which you don't need to import to XF.
Once you have the data, you can have it imported to XF. If you are going to use the cloud service offered by XF, then you'd need to get in touch with them to make the arrangements. Otherwise, you can do it yourself or pay for assistance with someone who's experienced in doing it. (Example)

There should be no difference between the data files or Invision self hosted or Invision cloud. You would ask for an export of your database and files.

The only thing you may want to think about is extending your cloud by one month just in case you need more time to test the import to XF.

Thank you both.

I've been in contact with Ken (MySiteGuy) and he's been very helpful and communicative. I will be having him handle the migration.

I've registered a domain name and set up the hosting account for the new forum. I'm currently on hold with respect to purchasing the XenForo license as I cannot get any responses to my tickets with Invision support regarding the size of my community DB and files, the timeline to obtain same, and how much they're going to charge me to get a copy of my community. I need to know all of these things before I pay for the license, put my existing board on hold, etc.

October 1 is the hard deadline for when Invision legacy plans terminate, so my plan is to keep the exiting cloud-hosted Invision forum paid for until then.

Unfortunately I'm at the mercy of Invision with respect to all of this... another reason to never cloud host IMO. You have zero leverage and zero control.

FYI: You can't migrate IPS Files/downloads to Xenforo Resources. I am awaiting for official conversion tools, so i can migrate 2 sites.

When you say "Files/Downloads" do you mean content associated with the filesharing or selling downloads feature of IPS, or do you mean "any file that has been uploaded to Invision", i.e., attachments, emojis, etc.? I don't use the former, but would need the latter.

I was mentioning for 'Downloads' - hosted through IPS. Download application. It's similar to Resources application. For Ex:

IPS -> XF
Forum -> Forum
Gallery -> Media
Download -> Resources
