Maybe a silly question

What's the purpose for the dot next to the thread title labeled "go to first unread message". I mean, the reason is obviously stated right there in the description, but as I understand XF clicking on the title of the thread achieves the exact same effect.

I expect I'm missing something, but for the life of me can't figure out what.

It's just the alt text for the image. Helps with some programs that read alt text(for someone that might be blind for example)

If you mean the actual image itself, I think it's just a visual cue that there are new posts in the thread.

Originally there was no image, members wanted an image as well as the highlighted thread title, so it was added.

I have added my custom images for each Forum-Node (Node image), and when hovering over my images it says "unread" as the Alt-text.
How do I get rid of this Alt-text ?
