MaxCDN for XenForo [Deleted]

Adam Howard updated MaxCDN for XenForo with a new update entry:

Cloudflare support with MaxCDN (optional)

Question: Can I use CloudFlare with MaxCDN?

Answer: Yes, but you will need to contact MaxCDN support and have them setup your pull zone to work with a dynamic IP addresses. You will also need to remember to include (setup) the CNAME provided to you by MaxCDN and remember NOT to turn on CloudFlare for that CNAME. Please remember to also include the custom sub domain you decided upon using.

See screen shot for example

Nice work, but as for MaxCDN, not really a fan. I actually noticed increased load time when using it - sometimes requests of small files took 2-3 seconds or more to complete. It was fast when these random spikes didn't happen, but this was just unacceptable to me.

I tried EdgeCast and the performance was incredible, no random stalls even on fresh requests. Unfortunately was too expensive for me so I ditched it and stopped using CDNs entirely. You get what you pay for I guess.

Granted, the last time I tried it was over a year ago so maybe things have changed but came across this recent blog post here and it pretty much echos my experience with MaxCDN: http://blog.mattheworiordan.com/post/18070022782/maxcdn-versus-amazon-cloudfront

I configured Amazon Cloudfront and defined the data sources. Everything works fine; except that my attachments are still served from my own server, instead of the cloud.

MaxCDN is no longer working for me. Getting rid of it and reverting back to my old htaccess. Will try Cloudfront later.

thanks for the resource
Do I have to pay for MaxCDN?
Max CDN http://tracking.maxcdn.com/c/38984/3982/378

Is only $40 for 1 TB of CDN data. And has a large range of servers world-wide. So in the end it pays for it's self.

You figure most of your CDN data will be simple photos such as small avatars or a few js files. My normal monthly bandwidth is about 100 GB of monthly traffic, but my CDN usage under 1GB because. That 1 TB will last me all year.... Not bad for only $40

Ohh! I thought it was a monthly fees. I need to start reading.
Have you notice a big impact in term of speed.

You'll notice a very good speed boost. When I first applied it I noticed almost right away

Took sometimes for them to cache my files though, but after that... well.... see for yourself

With over 350 add-ons and other little goodies, with 200 people online right now... Still super fast (on a shared account)

It maybe wise to add Max CDN's IP range to your safe list / white list for your firewall or Cloud Flare if you're using it.

When I change my config.php file as instructed I lose my Avatars on my current members. And my recaptcha will not refres or load for new member signup page.

Attention Cloudflare Users:

While this guide does close with showing you that you can use Cloudflare with MaxCDN. Please not that neither CloudFlare or MaxCDN will provide you support when using their services together.

Please also note that even without MaxCDN, I personally, as have many others, noticed that CloudFlare isn't exactly the best service for either CDN or service protecting as it can (and often does) slow down your site. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having a CDN in the first place.

So while this guide does close with saying it can be done and does tell you how to do it, I wouldn't recommend it. You're better off using just MaxCDN be its self (which this guide covers)

However if you really want something extra for security, I would recommend Incapsula.com

Attention NON Cloudflare Users:

This guide is still helpful for you to use MaxCDN. Just ignore the part about Cloudflare ;)

Going to test out the above with EdgeCast CDN.
All I really have to do is edit the config.php since I already had the cdn setup since the vBulletin days.

Hi!
Thanks for this resource, I'm very happy with it so far.
There only one problem, a lots of avatars disappeared today (I configured maxcdn yesterday).
Any idea why?
I also use cloud flare if it can be of help

So this will load your javascript, images and such via the cdn. What about the Css though? How do you make it load the CSS via the cdn as well.
