Hello, I'm trying to make a special subforum where I can put threads that are slightly hidden but can still be accessed with the proper URL. Basically, I don't want people to be able to see the list of all threads in the subforum (even if they put the subforum's URL in the address bar), but I would like them to be able to see individual threads. I know that there isn't much security at all with this, but it will do the trick admirably for threads that would be a distraction but don't require any real security.

I've tried to set it up using the following permissions:

The above is a screenshot for the "hidden threads" subforum for a specific registered user. However, when I log on as that user and paste the URL for a thread in that subforum into the address bar, it tells me that I don't have privileges.

I would have thought that I would be able to view a thread if I had the URL and the view thread content permissions...

Any idea what is going wrong? Is this a bug?

And also, any idea how to make a hidden threads subforum?

You need to be able to view the node to view threads in the node - that's how the system works, and how it makes sense...

Hmmmm.... But shouldn't there be a way to make it so that you can view the content of a specific thread without seeing the entire node?
