Mail for Registration

If I have a firewall for my server, do I need to unblock 443 if I don't have a mail server on the machine, but use google apps?

Also, what about registration emails and all, aren't those just sent out without using a different port?

I think this works but wondering what your thoughts were on this.

Yes, your server needs the SMTP port open so it can communicate with the mail server.

All emails are sent using the SMTP info and port you specify in the Admin CP. Registration emails are no exception.
