These guys are anything but cyber revolutionairies. If they want to create awareness, there's hundreds of ways to do so without disrupting people's online experience, or releasing torrents of people's accounts.

Teenage loner held over global 'hacking'
A teenage “recluse” who lives with his mother in Essex was being questioned by police last night on suspicion of masterminding an international computer hacking group.

Ryan Cleary, the 19-year-old son of a college lecturer, is accused of being a “major player” in LulzSec, which has been linked with attacks on computers belonging to the police, the US Senate and the CIA.
He was held in a raid at his family home in Wickford following a joint investigation between Scotland Yard and the FBI, which was also aimed at finding the hackers who breached security at the games firms Sony and Nintendo.

Chances are the kid will get off if he sells out members.

This happened with several anonymous members in the US, you just don't usually hear about the ones picked up most of the time.

I was reading about this on the BBC News website earlier. I wonder who the heck started that twitter account and posted that message.

really good info about Ryan Cleary here:

Cleary is also apparently mildly associated with that other well-known hacker group, Anonymous. In May, the Italian arm of Anonymous said on its blog that Cleary, a "fellow helper," had compromised its network.

"He decided that he didn't like the leaderless command structure that AnonOps Network Admins use.So he organised a coup d'etat, with his 'friends' at skidsr.us," Anonymous wrote. "Using the networks service bot 'Zalgo' he scavenged the IP's and passwords of all the network servers (including the hub) and then systematically aimed denial of service attacks at them (which is why the network has been unstable for the past week). Unfortunately he has control of the domain names AnonOps.ru (and possibly AnonOps.net, we don't know at this stage) so we are unable to continue using them. We however still have control over AnonOps.in, and will continue to publish news there."

Several days later, Anonymous posted Cleary's contact information and IP address on its anonops.blogspot.com blog with the title "Ryan Cleary Exposed!"

Looks like Ryan wasn't getting along too well with anonops.

I wonder what information Authorities will gain from the IRC logs .... unless the logs were constantly deleted ... should be a trove of information about Anonymous and Lulzsec.

"He is wanted in the US for allegedly hacking into Pentagon and Nasa computers while searching for evidence of aliens. He faces 60 years in jail if he is extradited and convicted."

lol...that is some funny stuff.
