Looking forward now to 1.1

I'm not going to hold off upgrading (I didnt) because it lacks X feature my members had previously. I did it on day one. The content is king, not the add on or mp3 they had on their profile. Once the initial shock of losing things like arcades & casinos (mindless sidetracks imho) wore off (quickly) they had nothing but praise for the new forum bones, and they still do, 5000 of them.

If you're scared you'd lose hits/whatever cause the arcade is missing for example, and you're not a arcade based site, you need to re-evaluate your life priorities for having a forum to begin with, or at least what's carrying your forum. Are they there to play games or post actual content, discussions etc. My entire forums post count/thread count has skyrocketed, and there is more input on the things we are focused on - the topics - now the trivial **** people get sidetracked on is gone. It's raised the quality posting bar if you ask me.

I was talking more about custom profile fields and the ability to ignore users. If I had to tell users that they had to start reading everything they had on ignore, I would get some decent backlash from a number of big contributors.

Hence the reason I can't wait for 1.1 :)

Many +1 for this. Its exact the same as on my forum. My favorite quote at the moment is: "content to the users, put your content in the forum."
Everything what is not noticed by the "whats new" function is not noticed.

Just yesterday i have stopped the blog addon just because of this. There was no traffic, users have not noticed it. After transfering the blogentries to a forum node (and activating "custom articles view" from Jaxels portal) the activities and discussions are rising 1000%.

an ignore function is not only a big complaint (that gets louder every month), but has also greatly increased my workload. the lack of the ability to ignore nodes and threads is also a huge problem for me, and has caused numerous people to leave the site.

I can't wait for 1.1 without a doubt. But I am ANXIOUSLY waiting for the resource managers release. I hope they do beta testing with it, I would love to beta test it. If both the resource manager and 1.1 release around the same time-frame that will be huge!

I think beta testing would be done live on the site to start with.

The Resource Manager is going to be used here first for resource authors, so I'm sure we'll be putting it through its paces. ;)

I didn't see any confirmation but I assume the Resource Manager needs 1.1 to function, since it hasn't been out yet and looks more and more like it will be released with 1.1 when it's updated here.

After what I saw yesterday, there are some great new features which are as good as, if not better than prefixes.

Lol - i'm primarily waiting for Thread prefixes and a downloads manager (photo gallery options would be nice but not essential). Now ya got my mouth watering ;)

You know what, since jumping from vBulletin and climbing aboard xenForo I have noticed a dramatic change in my forums activity. This may be because the community is growing older, the fact we switched to xenForo or both. The fact is that it is working and working well and I can see myself making additional purchases in the future.

And 1.1 hell yes, I heard somewhere it will be released by the end of July. Seeing as 1.0.3 has not been rolled out yet im expecting the release date to have been postponed but as long as it follows the same quality as what im using right now and is not released before it is done I can wait :)

I think I stared at this image for almost 1 hour and i am not bored at all

I dont doubt it, I too am waiting for custom fields and ignore features. These are core add ons though, my gripe was with the many who post here complaining there is no arcade and casino, blogs and other stuff that's never been a priority for xenforo itself. Not taking anything out on you personally, just raising a side issue I see here often :)

I do find it extremely amusing when someone "cant upgrade" because of a silly add on like flash games. It just goes back to the point I made about switching your forum off and finding another hobby, because it must be a real sh*tty forum that depends on yeti sports games to attract people and keep them posting. lolwut.

bring on 1.1!

For me it's not about mp3, arcades or casinos.
I have a how to section and many files for members to download. Thread prefixes help in my classifieds section.
A new site I want to develop has too many forums and thread prefixes will cut the number down.
I have my priorities in order too. My forum is for my members, not me. I will try to do what is best for them.
If I have to wait a little longer, so be it. There is nothing wrong with vB3. It was built well.
I have 3 XF licenses and will get more as needed.

Out of many forums I have a forum dedicated to children aged 8 to 15 years. Guess what? They like games. Another forum is for adults talking about movies and graphics design. Guess what? They are adults, they like to play a game occasionally and find it nice to be able to stay on my site.
Maybe you should stop thinking that your site is the measure of all things?

I said IF, if you can read between the lines. And I stand by my statement, if your 'normal' forum suffers from losing games UR DOING IT WRONG

I don't care about admins, I care about my users and what they are saying. I asked several childs and being able to play on the site is a major part of the fun factor of my site.

Guess how much time young Facebook users (and quite a good amount of older ones :)) play Farmville and such?

UR DOING IT WRONG

I'm quite successful at doing it wrong this way :)

I wouldn't expect much from a bunch of children so of course they'd like the games rather then some huge topic about lego. As for designers, game design? fair enough. Logos for websites? tell them to grow some and suck it up.
