Add-on 'Like - Reply - Share' for Thread Listing and Recent Activity

Bit of an important question about functionality of the Recent Activity List.

The Recent Activity List is built up (obviously) based on a number of different actions such as "like", e.g. "Chris Deeming liked a status update" or "Chris Deeming liked a post". Then there's "insert" e,g, "Chris Deeming replied to a thread" etc.

So, upon which items do we want the "Like Reply Share... and Watch) links to appear?

Technically someone liking a piece of content isn't a piece of content in its own right. You can't like that someone has liked a post. You can't reply to a like. You can't share a like, etc.

So my thinking is, in the Recent Activity list, the Like Reply Share and Watch functions should only appear where it is relevant and appropriate.

The other option is that the buttons appear on every item in the list.

Any thoughts?
Yep!

maybe just for those ?

posted a thread
posted a profile-post
Yep.

Recent Activity

Posted a Thread - Like, Reply (replying to the thread only) and Share should probably be the only buttons here.
Replied To a Thread - Like and the Reply quote link (quoting their post only) should be the only buttons here.
Posted a Status Message - Like and Comment links should be the only buttons here
First Post on Someone's Wall - Like and Comment links should be the only buttons here
Reply to a Status or First Wall Post comment - Since we can't 'like' the replies, at least the Comment link for the first post or status should be here.

As I said in the first post, I have a lot of addons on my site and as a result, I am requesting that he expand the addon so that other addons that are featured in the Recent Activity section will also be able to be Liked, Replied or Shared. Such addons that I would like to include are Post Ratings, Bookmarks, XFR User Albums, XenMedio, XenCarta, Showcase and Sportsbook. Integrations with other addons will cost extra which I'll be glad to pay for because it will come in handy.

I'm doing it now actually. I'm just real sluggish in December. Trying to figure out how to use that change thread starter addon at the moment.

I've made some embarrassing threads I need to disassociate myself from.

Thanks for your donation today. It's updated now. Yeah I added a coworker at work today on my Facebook but I forgot that my site's linked to my Facebook so I gotta do some Spring Cleaning in case they see some of my retarded threads.

I can not see it in your screenshot, but is "Unlike" missing ?

another idea for the "thread-list":
what about showing the "small avatars" of users who have "liked" the first post in the thread ?
Currently, you can not see in the "thread-list" of who liked the first post or how many "Likes" the first thread-post had received.

So I think this would be a great additional feature to this Add-on. :)

No. Unlike isn't missing. The only post that is likeable is the top one because it is the only post by someone else. All the others are my own threads so I can't like/dislike them.

Suprised you didn't code it to where you can like your own post...

Hehehe. Kidding.... :cautious:
