I think that may be the issue. The license was in a previous owners name. Last year I sent a messages about this and no response.
In March, I was able to purchase the license and register our site. That allowed me to upgrade. However, the license message remained. That is when I submitted another ticket that never got a response.
Again, I'm thinking something may have gotten crossed including email addresses for license. Perhaps your team is responding to the old owner because although I show a valid license in my xenforo account, my site says otherwise.
