License Agreement - Copyright

Hi,

Existing customer, but nonetheless I think this is the most appropriate forum to post in.
Does anyone find the licensing agreement unsatisfying with regards to copyright?

Particularly it doesn't make it clear whether:
  1. The XenForo code may be modified
  2. How addons are able to be created. In at least some jurisdictions (read: USA) APIs are subject to copyright and therefore their use/creation without permission from XenForo would be a breach.
Indeed the only substantive rights granted under the agreement are "a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to install, download and use a single instance of the Software ("License") through a single installation."

A lot rests on how the (undefined) term "use" is to be interpreted.

Would XenForo staff care to chime in?

@md_5 Your a "well-known" member. Since when is the license agreement new to you? License agreements in general are meant to describe rights of character that are usually inferred by the person using the software. You don't need to understand every little detail to get a good idea of what you should and should not do. It's there to define the details should you need to verify.

You are free to modify the XenForo code in any way you see fit, but you may not redistribute those parts of the code that you have edited either in whole or in part.

You may create add-ons using the add-on system or by hooking into the API however you see fit, but if you require further clarification then perhaps a more specific line of questioning would be in order?

No, that answers the question well enough thanks.
