Add-on Let users join a queue in a thread

Hi,

On our forum we have a sales section where sellers open a thread for an item they want to sell, and buyers can post a reply in the thread to publicly declare their interest in buying the item. Our rules are such that sellers have to follow this publicly declared order (the first person who declared interest has to be offered the item first, if they back out or don't follow up, then the next person in line gets a chance).

This system has worked well for us for many years. But I'd love to find a cleaner way of doing this.. is there any sort of add-on that could manage this, or is any dev up for coding something like this?

Something like a button to declare interest which would post a reply, and a sidebar block with the current interest queue.

Seems like posting SOLD would work? Do you have a lot of people that back out, or just "reserve" or something?

We use a Sold prefix and AndyB's mark as sold to close out a listing.

But yes, the issue is that often items are sought after, and you get lots of people declaring interest. Some people back out, often due to shipping costs or times, etc. And so the interest queue system works great.
