Fixed Latest threads widget can't pull threads from some forums

I have added a widget to pull new threads from certain forums but the widget is not displayed at all even though there are lots of new threads in the selected forums.

The forums I select have the "Include threads from this forum when users click "New posts" setting unchecked.

But that is why I am creating a seperate widget for them. I don't want new messages displayed from them in new posts but I want new threads from those forums displayed in a seperate widget. Hence, I choose the "new threads" widget definition, not "new posts".

That's the cause.

I've removed that restriction for the next release.

Sure.

The file is src/XF/Repository/Thread.php.

Find:

->where('Forum.find_new', true)

And just delete that line.

I have applied the fix and now widget is displayed. However I think clicking "show more" link below the widget should follow the widgets rules and display new threads from the selected forums. Instead it just displays all new posts

That link has actually already been removed for the next release via another bug report.

Well, as you noted, it's not useful because it doesn't do what you would expect it to do It doesn't do what you would expect, because there is no functionality that exists in XF which can show you a list of threads filtered by multiple forums.

It would be useful if it worked as intended.

Our users prefer a home page showing them a set of widgets from different sections of the site. Forum list is boring. But as a side effect, they tend to interact only with the latest x threads they see on the widgets. I was hoping that link would help with that. So I hope you don't give up on it.
