XF 1.1 Lastest Member Not Updating

Very odd problem just started occurring. I believe people are signing up, but the 'latest member' is not updating. I've even signed up as a test account and it's not showing. The person showing is from yesterday, which is incorrect.

I used the stock XF template, but slightly modified.

Thoughts?

1. did you confirm the account?
2. try to run the totals counter cron in the acp(these values are cached and only rebuilt via the cron)

I get that too, the user doesnt show until the account has been verified

This might tie back to all the issues of late with my emails getting caught in spam filters. That's becoming a very big problem and moving to Google Apps for email doesn't appear to have fixed it.
