Landing page help

Hi there, new to this all and not the most tech savvy but could anyone explain how we go about making a landing page for our forum? We are a closed forum so when you follow the link to join you have to register and the page looks sparse and not great. Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi,

you can go with Page node and set it as a homepage. The customize it with your preferred elements.

If you're not sure how to do it, some of our add-ons may help (Widget homepage, Login widget, etc.). Check the signature for more.

You have two ways and that depend on what you are looking for:

1. If you're looking for an intermediary page between clicking registration button and the registration form.
Go to your admin area -> Forums Tab in sidebar -> Nodes -> Add Node button on top right -> Page

http://yourwebsite.com/admin.php?pages/add&parent_node_id=0

Fill that page out and you can have a new page. It looks something like this:


2. If you want to add content above registration form, Here's the path to do that:
Admin Area -> Appearance -> Templates -> Search for 'register_form' and edit this to add your content.
http://yourwebsite.com/admin.php?templates (Search for the template on this page)



This directly changes the registration form so you can see your changes when you save.

Thank you all, I would like the registration page to be on the home page, and then you click through and the forum is there. Is there a way to do this? Ideally without paying someone as we have literally just started up, thank you

At /admin.php?options/groups/basicBoard/ set your 'Home page URL' to 'register/'

We wanted the registration page to have our logo on, and an about us section, is this possible? It already goes to the register page if someone isn't logged in but doesnt look great as it's just a small rectangular box saying you need to register to be able to see forum.
