XF 1.1 Is it normal that a user has no IP address?

Hi

I am running xenforo 1.1.3. Last week-end, a spammer registered for the first time since 9 months successfully on one of my sites and posted one spam message only.

Now I doublechecked in the ACP the domainname of his email address and found out that aroud 16 other users with rediffmail.com as donain domain name were able to register successfully. But none of them show an IP Address in the ACP .

Is this normal or is this a sign that all these are spammers?

Out of my head=> they're using IPv6 which isn'tn supported by default xf ATM

sounds like a nightmare. If spammers realize this, they will come all over to xenforo installations and we have no way to stop them easily.

IF this is the case (should be confirmed by @Mike ) you can -as a quick fix- change the database field to accommodate ipv6 addresses, so they get saved in the posts table at least.

Spammers with ipv6 addresses are also much easier to track down.
