XF 1.5 IPS Importer

Using the 4.0/4.1 importer for IPS to XenForo, I get the following error:

The source database connection details are not correct: Connection refused

I'm entering everything correctly, double checked, triple checked - including the directory path the the files

The IPS is hosted on a different server than the forum I am merging it to.

Any ideas?

That's the issue.

You will need to open up the server so you can connect to it, or move/copy the installation to the same server where XF is installed.

If I do that, move the install on my server and do it... do I need to install it on an IPB? I've acquired the database, not the software license but I can upload the files to my server if need be.

If you have the database and files (attachments, avatars), that's all the importer needs - you don't need to install the forum software.
