XF 2.2 Installation url just shows directiry

When I go to the url I installed my forum at, it simply shows the directory index. To actually access my forum I have to visit index.php. how do I make it so I can just access the forum from the main url?

I want to see the forum at site.net/forums not site.net/forums/index.php

Most likely the server is not configured to serve index files, or at least index.php.

Rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess and enable Friendly URLs in the ACP.

Alright I tried that. Unfortunately the initial issue is still there. It did change site.net/forums/index.php to site.net/forums/forums

Try adding this to the php conf file: DirectoryIndex index.php .

Hmm I'm not really sure why but after I did that, even after I reversed it, now my forum including the admin panel just gives me an error that my site can't handle the request anymore and won't let me in

You probably need to contact your sysadmin or host at this point to resolve the underlying issue.
